More often than not, nature inspires the most timeless designs. The Glowbus® Dewdrop, as its name suggests, takes its design cues from the symmetry of a falling drop of water.

Belgian artist and Glowbus® founder Andreas Ketels used that natural form as the starting point for a new take on the fire pit, transforming the act of gathering around a fire into something to be enjoyed every day. Combining function with sculpture, the Glowbus® Dewdrop’s pure, organic silhouette rises from the landscape, making it a striking feature in its own right when not in use, as well as a focal point for cosy, warm moments with friends and family.

And while the beauty of the Glowbus® Dewdrop lies in its minimalist design, the engineering behind it is anything but simple.

Each fire sculpture is precision engineered in Belgium from architectural-grade Corten steel, chosen for its durability and the way it changes with age. Exposed to the elements, the steel develops a protective oxide layer that prevents further corrosion, while gradually changing in colour to deeper, warmer tones. No two pieces will weather in quite the same way, with the patina gradually deepening and changing over time to give each Glowbus® Dewdrop its own character.

The welding, grinding and finishing are all carried out by hand. Depending on the size, the sculpture is made from 10 or 12 mm Corten steel, giving it the weight and durability to remain outside throughout the year. The Glowbus® Dewdrop is designed to withstand extreme temperatures, harsh winters, coastal conditions and winds of more than 200 km/h, without the need for much maintenance beyond clearing the ash.

There are three sizes, each retaining the same proportions of the original design. The M is suited to smaller gardens and patios, the L to larger gardens, while the XL is intended for larger landscapes, parks and hospitality settings. Whether creating intimacy within a private courtyard, becoming the focal point of a family garden, or anchoring the landscape of a boutique hotel or hospitality project, each version retains the character of the original concept.

For those who prefer not to burn wood, the Dewdrop M and L can also be fitted with an optional Bioethanol Kit. Developed with an integrated EcoSmart Fire burner, it provides a clean, smoke-free flame while keeping the original form of the Dewdrop intact. The insert can be fitted or removed as required, allowing the same sculpture to be used with either wood or bioethanol.

There is a wider environmental consideration, too. For every Dewdrop sold, Glowbus contributes towards the planting of 25 trees, part of an ongoing commitment to reforestation and nature conservation.

For installation on more sensitive surfaces, Glowbus also offers the DropShield, a concealed thermal barrier that reduces heat transfer and helps prevent Corten runoff while the patina is forming. It can be used beneath the Dewdrop on surfaces including porcelain paving, natural stone and hardwood decking.

The Dewdrop can also be personalised with engraved names, dates or bespoke logos, adding a further layer of individuality to each piece.

When lit, the fire becomes part of the artistic display. The Dewdrop’s tapered shape encourages airflow, allowing the flames to move through the vessel while radiating warmth to those gathered around it. As daylight fades, the fire also changes how the sculpture is seen, bringing out the texture of the Corten steel through light, shadow and reflection. Architecture, sculpture and fire brought together in perfect equilibrium.
