When racing legend Fernando Alonso submitted a special commission to Q by Aston Martin for a lightweight, race car-inspired version of the iconic Valour, the idea for an extraordinary special edition was born. Enter Valiant: a tribute to a bygone era of brutal V12 performance, conceived using the latest F1®-inspired technology.
Carefully crafted by the experts in Aston Martin’s bespoke division, Valiant’s dramatic exterior design hints at the power within. Equipped with Aston Martin’s incredible twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine, delivering a formidable 745 PS and 753 Nm of torque, and coupled with a bespoke 6-speed manual transmission, Valiant pushes the boundaries of performance, as Alonso has done throughout his 23-year career on the track.
Its all-carbon fibre bodywork with aerodynamic features serves to enhance this ferocious capability. The deep front splitter helps pin the nose to the tarmac and increase downforce; scalloped side fenders and carbon fibre aero discs, fitted to the wheels, slice through the air with precision, while Valiant’s aggressive rear-end design and prominent fixed wing leave no doubt of its performance capabilities. Other engineering highlights, adopted to reduce weight and dial in the chassis for serious track use, include a 3D-printed rear subframe, lightweight magnesium wheels, and a motorsport-spec lithium-ion battery. Perfecting Valiant’s chassis set-up are motorsport-grade Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) dampers, delivering exceptional handling rarely seen outside the world of racing.
The interior, a combination of race-bred functionality and material mastery, underpins Valiant’s focus on lightweight materials through the extensive use of exposed satin-finish carbon fibre. A new perfectly round steering wheel, unique to Valiant and devoid of any switches, has been designed to reflect the purity and connection found throughout the car. For driver safety and comfort, Valiant also features a built-in half-cage as standard.
The road-legal Valiant not only fulfils Alonso’s brief for a leaner, meaner Aston Martin but also elevates the concept of the ultimate driver’s car to new heights. And with only 38 examples of Valiant in existence, it is an extremely rare breed too.
