In 1964, Goldfinger set a new course for Aston Martin, with Bond’s DB5 quickly becoming the ultimate status symbol of the Swinging 60s. In 2023, the DB12 – the latest evolution in the DB lineage – followed suit, ushering in a new era of ultra-luxury performance and further solidifying Aston Martin as one of the world’s most desirable British brands. Now, in 2024, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Goldfinger, the two converge in a special edition DB12, customised by Q by Aston Martin, a personalisation and bespoke service much like ‘Q Branch’ in the Bond films that delivers endless possibilities.

At first glance, the DB12 Goldfinger Anniversary Edition’s Silver Birch finish, echoing the classic DB5, is instantly recognisable. However, this model is more than just a nod to the past. Exterior details reveal the sports car’s unique character, from its striking silver 21-inch multi-spoke wheels with a diamond-treated finish to its black brake calipers, bespoke gold side strakes and unique Aston Martin logo in silver with black enamel. Crowned with a bright chrome ‘Q’ fender badge, it’s clear this DB12 has received some truly special treatment.

Inside, the golden theme continues through 18k gold-plated interior accents, including on the drive mode rotary dial and roller controls, as well as the notched gear selector which takes design inspiration from the golden tracking device used by Bond in the film. These tactile details are enhanced by trim inlays of 2×2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fibre, subtly intertwined with gold metal fibres to elevate the sense of ultra-luxury.

Bond’s signature style is reflected in the car’s fluted seats, featuring an intricate Prince of Wales check perforation pattern that extends to both the headliner and door inserts. An 007-branded tread plate and sill plaque, bearing the Coat of Arms of the British sovereign, commemorate both the anniversary and the carmaker’s Royal Warrant status. Adding to the intrigue are subtle spy-inspired touches, including an eight of hearts embroidered on the hidden side of the driver’s sun visor, a reference to the playing card seen in the final draw during the famous Miami pool scene in Goldfinger.

As befits a car inspired by Britain’s most famous spy, the DB12 Goldfinger Anniversary Edition comes equipped with a cache of exclusive accessories and gifts. These include a custom car cover, a luxury key presentation box, a Silver Birch Speedform model, and a 35mm film section from the iconic Furka Pass scene in Goldfinger, all presented in a Globe-Trotter attaché case with a Silver Birch exterior and a Prince of Wales check interior. Owners are also treated to a magnum of 2007 vintage Champagne Bollinger, individually numbered, along with four exclusive Bollinger 007 glasses housed in a bespoke Globe-Trotter Air Cabin Case – perfect for celebrating the car’s arrival in true Bond style.

Strictly limited to a run of just 60 cars, paying tribute to a relationship that has spanned over half of Aston Martin’s illustrious 111-year history, the special edition showcases how the skills and imagination of Q can bring any idea, big or small, to life. “The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured,” says Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer. “It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognise six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first – and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car. Incorporating these subtle but impactful touches, developed by our own ‘Q’ department, has created a very unique offering; one that will be adored by Bond fans across the world.”
